Changing Face of Breast Enhancement Surgery
Breast enhancement surgery is today the most popular form of cosmetic surgery being performed. Figures recently released by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, showed a 30% increase in 2006, and given that a percentage of practioners are currently not members of BAAPS, it is assumed that the actual number of breast enhancement operations was in fact considerably higher. In fact, it is estimated that the actual number of breast enhancement procedures was around 18,000 in 2006.
Behind these statistics, it seems as though there is an interesting change in opinions, and an increasing acceptance amongst the majority towards breast enhancement surgery, and indeed cosmetic surgery as a whole. Whereas in the past, cosmetic surgery was viewed with scepticism by the middle classes, the new figures are showing that an increasing amount of women within ‘Middle England’ are undergoing breast enhancement surgery.
In recent years, it seems that the cosmetic surgery industry has become increasingly popular amongst mums and businesswomen, who would previously not have considered breast enhancement surgery as a viable option. Today, these individuals have become the majority of the patients, as they seek more subtle, restorative results from their breast enhancement surgery. These patients are looking for a more classic, natural result adopted by today’s female icons such as Elizabeth Hurley.
This increasing level of acceptance throughout the middle classes has being one of the primary reasons for the increase in cosmetic surgery procedures in recent years, and at present shows not signs of slowing. In fact, this overall level of acceptance is rapidly increasing, as figures show cosmetic surgery becoming increasingly popular throughout the UK.
